ROSS MACPHERSON MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Ross Macpherson was enthusiastic about all aspects of aviation and made a substantial grant to Flying NZ for scholarships shortly after the Young Eagle programme started in New Zealand. The Ross Macpherson Memorial Scholarships allows funding for five or more Ross Macpherson Memorial Scholarships a year. These scholarships are our longest-running scholarships and are intended to allow young eagles to advance to the next stage in their training.

These scholarships are now funded by our generous industry partners Aspeq, Airways, Gallacher Insurance, the Civil Aviation Authority and in 2023 the New Zealand Aviation Federation.

The value of the Ross Macpherson Memorial Scholarships of can vary and they are available each year to Young Eagles who are between 15 and 17 years old on 1 December and who have logged two hours of flight time.

Application opening will be announced on our Young Eagles Facebook page each year, normally towards the end of the year.

NELSON AVIATION COLLEGE

Kirk Samuel Dakers Memorial Scholarship

Kirk was an enthusiastic instructor at the Nelson Aviation College until he became ill and passed away in 2014. In honour of his passion for aviation and instructing each year, one scholarship of $3,000 is available to a lucky Young Eagle.

This scholarship is available to young eagles who are between 15 and 18 years old and is designed to help a keen Young Eagle on their way to achieving their first solo. FEDERATION OF AIR NEW ZEALAND PILOTS SCHOLARSHIP
