ABOUT
Hawera Aero Club is located at the Hawera Aerodrome, a privately owned grass airfield located at 343 Waihi Road (State Highway 3), the main road North of Hawera. We are the only aerodrome in South Taranaki.
We offer flying instruction in three fixed-wing trainers (one Cessna 152 and two Cessna 172's). The main runway has PAL lighting for night operations, and there is an AWIB available. AvGas is available when instructors are there, by prior arrangement, or there is a phone list at the fuel tank. Parking and tie-down areas are available. No landing fees for planes under 1600kg. Free Wi-Fi.
Instructors are available from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, weather permitting. Office hours are 10.00 am to 2.00 pm on Tuesdays.
Trial Flight ExperienceEnjoy a trial flight that includes a pre-flight briefing followed by a short flight with a qualified instructor (one person only). It’s a great way to explore flying and experience what it’s like to be in the cockpit.
Learn to Fly – Starter PackageIncludes a logbook, 4 lessons in a C152 or 3 lessons in a C172, plus 6 months of club membership. Perfect for anyone ready to begin their flying journey.
Young Eagles ProgrammeFor ages 12 to 17. A fantastic opportunity to explore all things aviation and get inspired by the world of flying.
