The Waiararpa and Ruahine Aero Club is based at Hood Aerodrome, Masterton.
While the club is not actively involed in flight training, an active group of members use a locally owned 172 to participate in competitions and rallies. The club rooms are spacious with excellent amenities including a bar,swimming pool and sky TV.
Other attractions on the airfield include Sport and Vintage Aviation and The Stick and Rudder Company with both organisations hangering vintage aircraft of which the Corsair and P40 are notable exhibits.
Gliding ,Skydiving and Helicopter operations are also undertaken on the field.
The club hosts an annual air-race and for the 2007 event, we will be providing an inducement to attract pilots from further afield.
The Wairarapa is fortunate in that it is not cluttered by controlled airspace and along with generally favourable weather conditions makes this a great area to fly in.
