The Otamatea Aero Club operates from Ruawai Airfield, 5km West of the Ruawai township.
Established in 1964 by a syndicate, each member putting in 100 pounds, it became popular enough to open the airfield in 1965. The OAC became an incorporated society on 27th October 1967.
Currently our youngest members are 15 years old and our oldest member will be celebrating his 90th birthday in 2009. Our club plane LPR, is an Alpi 200 microlight.
We are privileged to be surrounded by beautiful scenery. To the South-West the beach stretches all the way to North Head and to the east we have a fiord-like area around Pahi.The arrow indicates runway 07. To find the field follow the Wairoa River and look out for a gap in the line of trees. The airfield is the next field North-West.CONTACT
